As vezes acho que os títulos dos posts que faço não conseguem transmitir tudo que está no texto – na verdade, não conseguem. E nem sempre consigo colocar um título antes de pelo menos começar a escrever. Mas este aqui ganhou um título antes mesmo do post nascer…

A confirmação da reunião do Sabbath, ainda no ano passado, encheu a maioria das pessoas de alegria com o sentimento de poder ver estes senhores reunidos mais uma vez. Sempre houve algumas desconfianças, dúvidas, mas até então, parecia que muita coisa tinha ficado “de lado” em prol do objetivo maior: um novo disco e uma world tour.

As desconfianças com as condições atuais de Bill Ward eram, portanto, a maior preocupação. Aí veio a bomba da notícia da saúde de Iommi e, logo depois, o tal “unsignable contract” com o Bill Ward. A datas da tour mundial foram retiradas do site da banda e o nome “Sharon Osbourne” voltou a permear a vida de todos, apesar de ela desmentir qualquer envolvimento. E os fãs criaram um movimento no Facebook em apoio ao baterista que ganhou grande repercussão na internet. A coisa caminhava mal.

O site de Bill Ward foi atualizado com mais uma declaração do baterista a respeito de tudo que, mais uma vez, trago por aqui para efeito de registro:

Dear Sabbath Fans,

I wanted to let you know where things are at, from my point of view, as of today, February 17, 2012.

As my statement of February 2, 2012 indicated, I have not declined to participate in the Sabbath album and tour. At the earliest opportunity, I am prepared to go to the U.K. and record, and later tour with the band.

Last week, we sent further communication to the attorney handling the negotiations to try to reach an agreement. At this time we are waiting to hear back. I remain hopeful for a “signable” contract and a positive outcome.

I want to thank everyone who has voiced and posted their opinions, thoughts, support and love through all media, including the newly constructed sites. I applaud your worldwide reaction in support of the original band. And speaking for myself, your intent and truth will always be respected.

While believing in your freedom for expression, keep in mind that Tony, Ozzy and Geezer are still my lifetime friends, and I cannot support comments with an objectifying or derogatory theme toward them or their various representatives.

Ou seja, algo como: “efetivamente, nada mudou, mas estou tentando de novo e aguardando uma resposta”.

Mas na mesma sexta-feira que saiu esta nota acima, tivemos outra notícia: a tour mundial do Sabbath acaba de virar “Ozzy & Friends” tour, sendo que show do “Black Sabbath” mesmo (e ainda sem sabermos que será o baterista na oportunidade) será apenas no Download Festival, no dia 10/junho/2012. Assim, “QUASE” todas as outras datas (sim, porque algumas foram canceladas) viraram algo para, segundo a nota, “não decepcionar os fãs e promotores”.

Aí está a nota na íntegra, que ainda aborda os primeiros convidados de Ozzy:

BLACK SABBATH —who late last year confirmed the recording of their first new album in more than 33 years and a worldwide headlining tour–have had to put some plans on hold due to Tony Iommi’s battle with lymphoma. At this time, BLACK SABBATH will perform only one show of this summer’s previously scheduled European tour. It will take place Sunday, June 10 at the U.K.’s Download Festival.

So as not to let the promoters and fans down, Ozzy Osbourne will now perform the majority of the previously scheduled BLACK SABBATH dates (both festival performances and the headlining shows) billed as OZZY & FRIENDS. These “first ever” OZZY & FRIENDS shows will feature appearances by “special guest” musicians including Official Geezer Butler (who will join Ozzy for a special BLACK SABBATH set as a show of respect and support to their friend, Tony Iommi) and longtime former OZZY band member Zakk Wylde. In addition, OZZY will be accompanied by longtime collaborator and friend Slash at select shows, with other “special guests” set to join the tour at various stops along the way (full list of dates, appearances below).

Tony Iommi continues to make excellent progress and is looking forward to getting back out on the road. Meanwhile, BLACK SABBATH continue to write and record music in the U.K. for their upcoming album. More information about these dates and BLACK SABBATH’s recording and touring plans is forthcoming.

Entretanto, o motivo destes cancelamentos é bastante preocupante: seria a saúde de Iommi (que, no meio dessa novela toda, é o que realmente interessa – aliás, não somente dele, mas de todos, mas principalmente dele neste moment0).

Não sei se apenas eu tive esta interpretação dela, mas cancelar a tour e ao mesmo tempo dizer que “Tony Iommi continues to make excellent progress” são coisas meio distintas, não?

E agora podemos ficar por aqui, dando 1 milhão de motivos, combinados ou não, sobre tudo que está acontecendo… a verdade é que  é melhor desejarmos que a saúde de Tony seja mesmo o foco de tudo para que se recupere mesmo. O novo disco de estúdio ainda está mantido e o mundo terá a chance de ver pelo menos 3 deles no mesmo palco mais uma vez.

O resto, pessoal, é o título do post – que dá para resumir no nome de Ozzy. E aquela galera de sempre…
